High School Queties Program

Objective: To empower high school students with the skills, resources, and support needed to successfully navigate the college application process or pursue alternative career pathways.

Grade 9

  • Orientation and Goal Setting:
    • Introduction to the program and its objectives.
    • Goal-setting session to help students identify their academic and career goals for high school.
    • Mentor-matching/transfer from Junior Queties
  • College Readiness Workshops:
    • Introduction to the college application process, including building a college list and understanding admissions requirements.
    • Overview of standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and preparation strategies.
    • Start building portfolio w/mentor
  • Academic Support:
    • Transition support to help students adjust to the academic rigors of high school.
    • Subject-specific tutoring and study groups as needed.
    • Weekly/bi-weekly mentor meetings
  • Personal Growth:
    • Workshops on time management, organization, and study skills to promote academic success.
    • Introduction to extracurricular activities and leadership opportunities.
  • Career Exploration:
    • Introduction to career pathways and industries through guest speakers and career panels.
    • Career interest assessments to help students explore potential career options.

Grade 10

  • College Readiness Workshops:
    • Continued guidance on the college application process, including essay writing workshops and financial aid information sessions.
    • Preparation for standardized testing and ongoing support for test-taking strategies.
  • Academic Support:
    • Continued subject-specific tutoring and study groups to support students' academic progress.
    • Introduction to advanced placement (AP) and dual enrollment opportunities.
    • Weekly/bi-weekly mentor meetings
  • Personal Growth:
    • Workshops on goal-setting, self-awareness, and resilience to promote personal development.

    • Assistance with scholarship applications and identifying additional funding sources.
